LANCASTER, N.Y. (April 28, 2018) – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway officials have been forced to push back the start of the 2018 campaign yet another week to ensure the facility is race-ready to start its 60th season of operation.

Rain and cold temperatures delayed pouring of new concrete in two important sections for the drag strip and stock car oval. The repairs were needed past the starting line of the drag strip and towards the shut down area where concrete poured in 2016 meets the asphalt near Turn 4 of the oval. This is being done to provide racers with a smoother and consistent racing surface in those two areas.

The racing events previously scheduled for the weekend of May 4 and 5 have been canceled. Dragway officials will hold preseason tech inspection for all competitors on Friday, May 4 from 4-7 p.m.

If the concrete sets up properly and the track can be properly prepared, the first on-track action will take place Wednesday, May 9 with the first Cruise Night of the year. Fans can once again attend Cruise Nights for free during the 2018 season by entering the grandstand gates. There will continue to be a $5 admission for vehicles wishing to park on the oval and/or grudge race. A ticket for one pass down the drag strip is included with vehicle admission.

Lancaster has added a Stock Car practice session for Thursday, May 10 from 5-8 p.m. Fans can watch from the grandstands for free and there will be limited concessions open.

Franco’s Pizza Friday Night drag racers will get on track Friday, May 11 with a Test & Tune session starting at 5 p.m. Grandstand admission will be free that night with the main concessions and 12 Gates Brewing Beer Stand open for business. VIP Night has been rescheduled for Friday, June 8. All passes VIP passes for May 11 will be honored that night.

The X-Press Signs Stock Car Series opener is slated for Saturday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. with the Queen City Clash 75 for the Race of Champions Modified Series plus RoC Super Stocks, Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks and Roaming Buffalo 4-Cylinders.

Tuesday Test & Tune for the drag racers start up on Tuesday, May 15. IHRA points begin on Friday, May 18 for all classes. The Supercharged Bounty Hunters will also be part of the first night of drag racing.

Lancaster Speedway management and staff want to thank the stars in the cars and fans in the stands for the continued patience. Mother Nature? Not so much.
