LANCASTER CANCELS RACING FOR THURSDAY, MAY 25
LANCASTER, N.Y. (May 25, 2017) – Lancaster National Speedway has canceled Thursday night’s X-Press Stock Car Series event due to heavy rains that fell overnight and spilled into Thursday morning and early afternoon. The amount of precipitation that fell in a short period of time has left the track grounds saturated beyond use.
Ponding water in the pit areas, on the track and in parking lots, plus saturated grandstands, have forced this cancellation.
“We were hoping the overnight rains would diminish early enough in the day to get tonight’s show in for everyone,” said Tim Packman, Track President. “Surveying the situation revealed much of the pit road area under about three inches of water. There is also a very large area of water in Turns 1 and 2 that will not be dried by the time teams were scheduled to get on track for practice.
“This was supposed to be a nice way to kick off the Memorial Day weekend, but Mother Nature didn’t want to cooperate. Our next X-Press Signs Stock Car Series event will now be June 3 when the Supermodifieds come to town.
“We hope our stock car fans and teams have a great holiday weekend and look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday.”
Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway will host Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing tomorrow night, May 26, featuring Al Hanna’s Jet Funny Cars. Time trials start at 5 p.m.
The next X-Press Signs Stock Car Series event is Saturday, June 3, for Double Wing Night featuring the International Supermodified Association (ISMA) and the Cam-Am TQ Midgets. It will be the first ISMA race at Lancaster since 2003. The Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks and Roaming Buffalo 4-Cylinders will also be in action. Racing starts at 6:30 p.m.
