HITCHCOCK, RICKETSON, SALEMI, SEMLITSCH & BEZINQUE WIN AT LANCASTER
LANCASTER, N.Y. (May 20, 2017) – Lancaster National Dragway hosted the second race of the season for the Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing program on Friday night.
Winners included Brian Hitchcock of Amherst, N.Y. (Mallare Enterprises Top), Ryan Ricketson of Delevan, N.Y. (McGard Mod), Lucas Salemi of Clarence Center, N.Y. (Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds), Ed Semlitsch of West Seneca, N.Y. (Tread City Tire Street) and Jason Bezinque of Amherst, N.Y. (Buffalo Street Outlaws Real Street).
In Mallare Enterprises Top ET, Brian Hitchcock picked up the win over Tom Coonly after both drivers broke out. The Carl & Joanie Ettipio-owned rear engine dragster of Hitchcock ran closer to his dial-in to score his first win of 2017. Ryan Ricketson continued his winning ways in McGard Mod with a victory over John Cira, Jr. in the final round.
Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds came down to a motorcycle vs. snowmobile final pairing with the sled of Lucas Salemi getting the win over the motorcycle of Mike Peters. Peters broke out by .001 seconds to hand the win to Salemi.
“Fast Eddie” Semlitsch scored the victory in Tread City Tire Street over Tim Markle in the final round. Jason Bezinque scored his second-straight Buffalo Street Outlaws victory at Lancaster, this time in the Real Street class. Bezinque had to overcome a reaction time advantage by his opponent, Jonathan Kroll, who left the starting line first in the finals. Bezinque narrowly edged ahead of Kroll by the time they reached top end.
Lancaster National Dragway kicks off Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 26 with Al Hanna’a Jet Funny Cars. The jet-powered Funny Cars will light the night with a fiery passes down Lancaster National Dragway’s 1/8-mile. There will also be a full card of Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing with Joe’s Transmission TNT Hot Rod Series joining our four weekly classes.
