LANCASTER, N.Y. (July 13, 2019) – Frank Malvaso of Rochester and his “Rush” 1933 Willys scored another win at Lancaster Dragway @ New York International Raceway Park on Friday night as topped the field of Supercharged Bounty Hunters in the 716 vs. 585 Shootout.

The 716 vs. 585 Shootout for the Supercharged Bounty Hunters featured an eclectic mix of eight vehicles. The final pairing featured multi-time winner Malvaso going head-to-head with Ron D’Alessandro. Both drivers nearly cut a perfect light on the starting tree, with Sobczysnki making up the difference in dial-ins to beat Maduri at top end. In Top 8, Bill Bigham had just over a one second advantage on Rich Yacos in the final round. Bigham was able to hold that advantage, and beat Yacos for the Top 8 win.

The Giannia Mazia’s Mod final was a battle of Plymouth Dusters between Reid Ricketson and Mike Hickey. Hickey brokeout after he ran under his dial-in to give Ricketson his second win of the season. Mike Peters remained hot in the Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds as he won for third week in a row. His latest opponent to conquer was Matt Luke as he brokeout to keep Peters’s streak alive.

FRIDAY NIGHT DRAGS END IN SPLIT AT NYIRP

FRIDAY NIGHT DRAGS END IN SPLIT AT NYIRP

LANCASTER, N.Y. (June 22, 2019) – The IHRA Drag Racing program at Lancaster Dragway @ New York International Raceway Park ended in a split in all classes on Friday night due to curfew.

Unexpected afternoon rain showers held up the start of the program as the track crew worked hard to get the drag strip dried out. There was an exceptional car count on hand with 190 cars across the four weekly classes plus the Buffalo Street Outlaws and TNT Super Series.

The track crew continued to have busy night during racing with a handful of incidents, including a few oil downs, which forced the show to run long. Racing was halted for the final time at midnight out of respect of the facility’s curfew with the town of Lancaster. All drivers remaining in competition at that time split the purse in their respective classes.

A busy final week of June is ahead at Lancaster Speedway & Dragway @ NYIRP. It starts Tuesday night with Test & Tune and Junior Dragsters followed by Cruise Night on Wednesday. Thursday night is the first stock car event of the season with the 5th annual Ol’ Boy Cup 60 for the Race of Champions Modified Series. The weekly IHRA Drag Racing program is back in action on Friday followed by the Niagara Swap Meet & Car Show on Saturday and Sunday. Full details for all events are available on www.lancasternationalspeedway.com.

It was a matchup of veteran riders in the Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds final as four-time and defending track champion, Mike Peters of Akron, N.Y., beat Dick Nearhoof.
